Over the past few years we have become aware of the number of women who are struggling with issues around domestic abuse. Many of them struggle with trauma, anxiety and low self esteem. There is huge benefit in simply being able to share stories, to communicate to one another that "You're not on your own" and to allow relaxed and neutral spaces for emotional processing. Many of these women have young children so to be able to provide a safe space for children to play in an appropriate setting whilst mums talk together would be such an asset in our town. We are beginning to talk to the organisation
Restored in order to do this well.
Supporting women
"I’ve really enjoyed getting to know new people within the community and being able to come together and share experiences. My anxiety has been worse at times during the pandemic and I’ve found it really helpful to be able to talk about it in a safe space with people who are experiencing similar things. You feel less alone. It’s been great to share experiences, but also coping mechanisms."
